Sex education is important, every child should have sex education incorporated in to their schooling. It’s our fundamental duty as society to educate the next generation about child sexual abuse. Parents are not comfortable talking up these sensitive topics, but the learning has to start at home and it’s all about the Child safety. Doubts are put aside and talk with a child about the good touch and bad touch.1
Good touch and bad touch is gradually learnt through a child’s day to day activities. we can increase these learnt behaviors by making an effort to teach a child about the difference between good touch and bad touch in early age.2
The Good Touch, Bad touch activities aim to teach child about appropriate behavior, sexual or otherwise. If students of school age can learn about boundaries in terms of hugging and kissing and more intimate behavior, this will be of great advantage in adulthood when inappropriate behavior.3
Good touch and bad touch” are words most commonly used to explain to children what touch is and isn't okay, and help them understand what situations they should tell a safe person about and ask for help, and how they should treat other people. For children, "good touch” is touch that cares for them, that is necessary for their health or safety, or makes them feel safe, or is fun. "Bad" touch is any touch that they don't want or makes them feel scared, or any secret touch, or any touch on their genitals or bottom, unless it's necessary for their health.4
Overview of the situation of child sexual abuse around the world as WHO estimated that almost 53,000 child deaths in 2002 were due to child homicide. An estimated 150 million girls and 73 million boys under 18 have experienced forced sexual intercourse.5

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
“A study to Assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching on knowledge regarding
Good touch and Bad touch among girls of selected Upper Primary school of Mehsana district.”
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:
a. To Assess the knowledge regarding ‘Good touch and Bad touch’ among Upper Primary school girls.
b. To evaluate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching regarding Good touch and Bad touch among Upper Primary school girls.
c. To Find out the association of the knowledge with their selected demographic variable.
HYPOTHESIS:
H0– There will be no significant difference in the level of knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch among Upper Primary School girls after receiving video assisted teaching at 0.05 level of significance.
H1- “There is a statistically significant difference in the level of knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch among Upper Primary School girls after receiving video assisted teaching at 0.05 level of significance.
MATERIAL AND METHODS:
Quasi experimental one group Pretest / Post test research design and Quantitative Approach. Effectiveness of Video assisted teaching program knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch among Girls of selected School of Mehsana district. The data were collected from 150 Girls. “Non-Probability Convenient” sampling technique were used. A structured questionnaire was selected to assess the knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch.
RESULTS:
Demographic data was analyzed using frequency and percentage. Frequencies, percentage, mean, mean percentage and standard deviation was used to determine the knowledge score. The ‘t’ value was computed to show the effectiveness of Video assisted teaching and chi-square test was done to determine the association between the pretest knowledge of Girls with selected demographic variables.
Finding related to demographic data:
In this study overall the highest percentage in the demographic data including the the Age group 60.66% (12year), Religion 98% (Hindu), Class of study 50.66% (7thclass), Mother’s educational status 30.66% (Graduate and Above), Type of family 55.33 (joint), Number of Sibling 38.66% (one), Income of family/month 44.66% (Above 15000), Area of residence 84% (Urban), Knowledge about Good touch and Bad touch (50.66%) No, Source of information, (28%) Mass media
Finding related to pre test and post test knowledge score:
Pre-test, only 49 (32.66%) Girls had Poor level (0-7) knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch. 101 (67.33%) Girls had Average knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch.
During post-test, 2(1.3%) Girls had Average (8-14) knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch. 148 (98.66%) Girls had Good knowledge (15-20) regarding Good touch and Bad touch. It was inferred from the above table that the Video assisted teaching was effective in improving knowledge of Good touch and Bssad touch among Girls.
Finding related to effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme:
Table 1: Distribution of subject on paired ‘t’ test between pretest and posttest knowledge score regarding Good touch and Bad touch among Girls.

Finding related to association between pretest knowledge score of Girls with selected demographic variables:
The association between the Pre test level of Knowledge and socio demographic Variable. Based on the Third objectives used to chi –square test to associate the level of knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch with their selected demographic variable. The chi square value show that their significant between variable, Age, Religion, Class of study, Mothers educational status, Type of family, Number of sibling, Income of family/month, Knowledge about Good touch and Bad touch demographic variable and pre-test knowledge score. The calculated Chi-square was less than the table value at the 0.05 level of significance.
CONCLUSION:
The present study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Video assisted teaching on knowledge regarding Good touch and Bad touch. The study was conducted by using Pre experimental one group pre-test post-test research design. Mehsana district was selected for conducting the study. The sample size was 150 Girls using non probability convenient sampling method.
